Stellantis is recalling more than 1.3 million Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles globally over a fire risk, with owners advised to park their vehicles outside and away from buildings until repairs are completed.

The details: The recall covers 2021-2025 models of the Jeep SUVs and pickups due to an electrical issue involving hydraulic power-steering pump wiring, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

  • The faulty wiring could cause combustible materials to overheat and potentially catch fire, according to the NHTSA.

  • The agency said it is aware of 51 fires and one injury potentially linked to the issue.

  • Stellantis will notify owners when a remedy becomes available and expects to begin mailing notification letters on July 9.

Why it matters: The size of the recall and the unusual recommendation for owners to park vehicles away from structures could create additional service-lane traffic and customer communication demands for dealers.

Between the lines: The Wrangler and Gladiator recall is the latest in a string of Jeep recalls as Stellantis works to improve quality across the brand, which scored 267 problems per 100 vehicles in the 2026 J.D. Power U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study.

  • In late May, Jeep recalled more than 400,000 Grand Cherokee models over a side-airbag software issue that could trigger transient door-airbag pressure sensor faults.

  • In November, Jeep recalled 320,065 plug-in hybrid Wranglers and Grand Cherokees over concerns that the vehicles' battery packs could catch fire.

Bottom line: The recall underscores the quality challenges Stellantis continues to face as it works to improve reliability across Jeep's lineup, making it critical for dealers to effectively manage customer communication and recall repairs as the automaker pursues its broader quality turnaround.
