Napleton Palatine Subaru secures buy-in on MPIs, efficiency gains

As the service manager for Napleton Palatine Subaru in Illinois, Luke Goerlitz is committed to using video inspections and is gaining his team's buy-in as they notice the appeal of working more efficiently.

Driving the news: Goerlitz, who became the service manager at the Subaru store at the beginning of this year, joined Daily Dealer Live’s Fixed Ops Friday and told host Sam D’Arc about his approach to MPIs.

To start, he pointed out how the MPIs give the technician the ability to talk directly with the customer and tell them what’s going on with their vehicle.

“It stops any questions that might come in for the advisor. It’ll get their bay working way more efficiently,” Goerlitz pointed out.

U.S.-Mexico trade talks reportedly stall over auto tariffs, raising concerns for USMCA

U.S. trade negotiations with Mexico have reportedly stalled amid disagreements over tariffs on auto imports and steel and aluminum, raising further uncertainty about the future of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).

At the center of the dispute is U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick’s reported refusal to lower the 25% tariffs on cars and 50% duties on metals, according to sources familiar with the matter.

Why it matters: Continued tariff tension could put additional pressure on vehicle costs and pricing for automakers and dealers that rely on cross-border production and supply chains.

The details: According to court documents, Yaoxu Zhou and two other men allegedly impersonated two Pennsylvania residents and one Delaware resident to lease Tesla vehicles from a dealership before shipping them to China, where the vehicles were worth three times as much, ABC 8 News reported.

Investigators allege that Zhou and another man purchased the victims’ identities on the dark web with help from a third individual.
