1. Group 1's acquisition path is resolute in the face of consolidation

At last week's Auto Team America buy-sell summit, Group 1 Automotive CEO Daryl Kenningham discussed the company’s strategy for expansion, focusing on “cluster” acquisitions in key markets like Florida, the Carolinas, and Texas.
But with dealership consolidation rising, the opportunities are shrinking.

2. GM surges in EV market, but the road ahead isn’t easy

GM is charging into 2025 with double the U.S. EV market share—largely thanks to the Equinox EV (which saw an 85% jump in sales last quarter), as well as Chevy Blazer, Cadillac Lyriq, and GMC Hummer EV.
Now—GM is the second-largest EV seller in the U.S., behind only Tesla.
