On March 11, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued a recall covering 2025-2026 Volvo EX30 and 2026 EX30CC vehicles, with 1,584 units affected.
The issue: In the affected models, the NHTSA reports the seat belt warning system may not activate the audible chime as intended, putting the vehicles out of compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 208 on occupant crash protection.
The fix: Dealers will replace terminals at the audio module connector at no charge to the owner.
Owner notification letters are expected to go out April 3, but VINs became searchable on NHTSA.gov on March 13.
For Volvo dealers: This is a relatively contained recall given the unit count, but the timing adds a layer, given that news broke this week that the EX30 is being pulled from the U.S. market after the 2026 model year.
That makes these service appointments a natural touchpoint to get ahead of customers' questions and start conversations about their future needs.
