Hey everyone,
I’m looking for the “Brian Johnson of Automotive”
In other words: the healthiest person in auto retail.
I want to do an episode on improving health habits inside dealerships, because no one talks about this topic enough.

What’s the deal: Snippets from notable and quotable spring/summer buy-sell transactions

Every buy-sell transaction brings its own details, background, and history. “No two deals are alike,” we’re often told.
Some represent the next chapters of a great family legacy, while others signal the ending of one, like when the last Fuccillo dealership sold in New York this June.
The sale came nearly five years to the day that original owner William Fuccillo Sr., known for his charisma and “huge” ad slogan, died on June 17, 2021, at age 65.
Other deals may showcase a growing group, like when Jenkins Auto Group expanded and acquired a Kia dealership in Cocoa, Florida.
Point being: While we continue to process spring and summer deals, we decided to recap 10+ deals, starting with the luxurious acquisition below.

Dodge doubles down on gas-powered performance as brand enters its ‘Next Century'

Dodge—which is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year—is entering what CEO Matt McAlear describes as the “next century” of the 112-year-old performance brand, with a product strategy increasingly centered on gas-powered models.
The details: McAlear discussed Dodge’s strategy with CDG News, outlining three key priorities for dealers: responding quickly to customer demand, delivering distinctive performance at competitive price points, and putting more resources behind experiences that generate consumer interest and leads.
Rather than sacrificing differentiation to hit an entry-level price, Dodge is focused on delivering the “most performance” at a “reasonable price,” as demonstrated by its decision to offer the 5.7-liter V8 Durango in the GT trim, he explained.

Polestar dealer files $25M lawsuit, claims automaker used U.S. ban to avoid franchise payout

A Polestar dealer has filed a $25 million lawsuit against the electric carmaker, alleging the company is using the federal government's move to ban it from selling vehicles in the U.S. to avoid payments it owes retailers.
The details: The $25 million lawsuit, filed by New Jersey dealer group Prestige Imports in Bergen County Superior Court on Aug. 12, specifically alleges that Polestar violated New Jersey's Franchise Practices Act, according to Road & Track.
Under the act, Prestige Imports is reportedly entitled to payment of the franchise's fair market value, plus five years of continued parts and warranty support.
