On April 8, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) logged a recall filed by Toyota covering 9,139 Lexus vehicles across three models, including the 2022 IS, 2015-2022 RC, and 2016-2020 GS, over a fuel pump defect that could cause a vehicle stall.
The issue: According to the NHTSA, a resin impeller inside the low-pressure fuel pump can degrade under certain operating conditions, potentially causing the pump to stop working altogether.
When that happens, drivers may see warning lights, experience difficulty starting the vehicle, or face a stall, the last of which carries an elevated crash risk at highway speeds.
The fix: Dealers will replace the fuel pump assembly with an improved unit at no charge. No "do not drive" advisory is in place.
Dealer notifications went out April 8. Owner letters are expected between May 25 and June 8.
For Lexus dealers: The population spans three nameplates and nearly a decade of production dates, so service teams should expect a steady flow of appointments once owner letters land next month.
