Driving the news: Ford Motor Co. said it will roll out an Over-The-Air (OTA) update to its Integrated Trailer Module software, which could affect approximately 4,380,609 vehicles in the U.S. as part of a safety recall.
Customers can also visit a dealer or use mobile service for the update.
Starting March 17, the update will be available for most vehicles via OTA, at dealerships, or through mobile service, according to Ford.
OTA updates for all vehicles are expected by May.

For context: A trailer control module defect may stop it from communicating with the vehicle, usually at startup.
It can disable the trailer’s stop lamps, turn signals, and braking on High Series modules.
Drivers will see a “Trailer Brake Module Fault” message on the instrument panel cluster, and the turn signal indicator will flash rapidly. A “Blind Spot Assist System fault” message may also appear on the dashboard.
The recall affects certain 2021-2026 F-150, 2022-2026 Super Duty (F-250-600), 2024-2026 Ranger, 2022-2026 Expedition, 2022-2026 Navigator, 2022-2026 Maverick, and 2026 Transit vehicles.
