Toyota has issued a recall for more than 100,000 vehicles over a potential fuel leak that could cause a fire, affecting one of the brand’s hottest-selling models.
The details: The recall affects certain 2024–2027 Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid models due to a fuel tube connection near the fuel tank that could disconnect and leak fuel, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Toyota said it has not confirmed the cause or circumstances under which the issue could occur in affected vehicles.
However, other vehicles are not equipped with the same combination of components at the fuel tube connection.
To address the issue, dealers will inspect the connection and install a supplemental clamp or, if necessary, replace the resin fuel tube and install a supplemental clamp, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Nov. 29, 2026.
Why it matters: The recall could increase service demand at Toyota dealerships as owners seek inspections and repairs to address the potential fire risk, while raising concerns among customers considering purchasing a Land Cruiser.

Between the lines: Demand for the Land Cruiser has remained strong since its 2024 reintroduction, though production has been hampered by shortages of aluminum, resin, and semiconductor chips.
U.S. sales reached 43,946 units in 2025, up 14,833 from the SUV’s reintroduction year, with the Land Cruiser ranking among America’s fastest-selling new vehicles, according to a June CarBuzz report.
Annual Land Cruiser production is estimated at roughly 30,000 to 40,000 units, with U.S. sales exceeding the high end of that range in 2025.
Amid production challenges, September sales declined 24%, with 26,697 units sold year-to-date, compared with 35,146 during the same period in 2025.
Bottom line: Toyota’s Land Cruiser recall adds another challenge for a popular SUV already facing production constraints, putting pressure on dealers to manage repairs amid tight inventory conditions while maintaining customer confidence and protecting the model’s sales momentum.
