Driving the news: Ford Motor Co. is shaking up its internal structure, merging its EV, digital, and design operations into a single new organization called Product Creation and Industrialization, with COO Kumar Galhotra at the helm.
Doug Field, the executive Ford brought in to lead its EV and software push, will also exit the company.
For context: Field joined Ford about five years ago.
During his time there, Field helped inspire collaboration between the EV, Digital & Design, and Industrial System teams.
The Product Creation and Industrialization organization blends those teams together, a move Ford said will help the company hit its goal of an 8% adjusted EBIT margin target by 2029.

What they’re saying: Ford CEO Jim Farley called Field an invaluable partner in a press release announcing the changes.
“He not only assembled a brilliant team from across industries but also elevated our culture by teaching first-principles thinking and instilling the discipline to question constraints and eliminate complexity,” Farley said. “His influence will be felt for years to come.”
Bottom line: Ford is betting that consolidating its tech and industrial operations will let it move faster.
