Driving the news: Nissan is recalling more than 640,000 Rogue SUVs from model years 2023–2025 across two separate recalls filed the same day, both tied to the vehicle's 3-cylinder 1.5L VC-Turbo engine.
For context: The two recalls (NHTSA 26V080 and 26V081) were both submitted February 11, 2026, and share overlapping vehicle populations. Some 2024–2025 Rogue owners may be subject to both.
Recall 1 (26V080) — Engine bearing seizure, 323,917 vehicles:
Increased engine oil temperatures can degrade lubrication, potentially causing bearing seizure, engine damage, or engine failure.
And in rare cases, a breach in the engine block could discharge hot oil, increasing the risk of fire.
Nissan reported 690 warranty claims, but no accidents or injuries, tied to the defect.
Recall 2 (26V081) — Throttle chamber gear fracture, 318,781 vehicles:
Faulty ECM software can cause repeated stress on the plastic throttle chamber gear, which can fracture over time.
A broken gear fragment can block throttle valve movement, potentially leading to loss of motive power when the vehicle is stationary.
Nissan confirmed 3,111 warranty claims with no accidents or injuries.
But 100% of affected vehicles are considered affected.
The remedy: For both recalls, dealers will reprogram the ECM at no charge, with inspections to follow. Engine or throttle chamber replacements will be performed free if needed. Owner notifications go out March 27, and drivers can check VINs here.
