Welcome to the Daily Dealer a concise rundown of the most important automotive industry headlines that matter to car dealers, automakers, and industry insiders.

Not all auto brands are created equal:

But these are the ones dealers are chomping at the bit to acquire…

(Data source: CDG Dealer Outlook Survey Q2 2025)

And James is suggesting it might be proof that some automakers’ playbooks are starting to pay off…

1. Chuck Hutton Toyota is setting a new standard for what public EV charging can be

Chuck Hutton Toyota just made EV charging the main attraction—not an afterthought.

But how?

By designing a solar-powered hub (named Electri-CITY Park) and placing it right next to the dealer lot.

We’re talking 12 EV chargers, lounges, workspaces, and even a dog park.

Kim’s goal? Make the wait worth it—and spark EV conversations the moment shoppers pull in.

Looking ahead: This isn’t just about selling EVs—it’s about making people want to drive them. Kim’s lot nails the must-have (charging) and delivers a few extras that seal the deal.

2. Range Rover’s new electric SUV just logged 45,000 miles in the frigid Arctic Circle

Range Rover just put its new EV battery tech to the ultimate test—deep in the Arctic Circle.

How extreme are we talking?

45,000 miles across frozen lakes and land tracks, with temps plunging below -10°C.

All to validate its new “ThermAssist” system, which cuts energy use by up to 40% and recovers heat to warm the cabin.

Bottom line: Some details may be under wraps, but it seems dealers can expect the Range Rover BEV to stay true to its roots—luxury, capability, and all-terrain credibility intact.

3. Not all EVs save drivers money—but these ones do

Not all EVs save buyers money—and a new Vincentric study just made that clear.

Out of 54 electric models analyzed, less than half had a lower five-year cost of ownership than their gas-powered counterparts.

Top savers?

The 2025 Nissan Leaf and Porsche Taycan, with Hyundai Motor Company dominating the overall value list with five models in the top ten.

Zooming out: “No more gas stops” isn’t enough—buyers want the full cost story. And with long-term savings varying wildly by brand, dealers who lead with real numbers—not hype—have the edge.

1. Toyota and Waymo are quietly working on something big. The two companies just reached a preliminary agreement to explore a next-gen autonomous vehicle platform—with one major shift: this time, it’s not about fleets. It’s about personally owned vehicles.

2. The White House is easing the tariff burden on automakers. Yesterday, President Trump signed an executive order that prevents metal tariffs from being stacked on top of existing 25% auto import duties.
