Kia has announced pricing for the 2027 Sportage and refreshed 2027 Niro hybrid as the automaker aims to maintain its market position as a brand with a diverse portfolio of affordable options.
The details: While most of the gas-powered 2027 Sportage lineup carries over, the compact crossover gets a package upgrade for its X-Line trim, while the Niro adds new design elements and a new trim offering.
The Sportage X-Line—priced at $34,790, excluding a $1,495 destination charge— will now come standard with a panoramic sunroof and Smart Power Liftgate, features included in the 2026 X-Line Premium Package.
The all-wheel-drive X-Line also adds a new Road Rider Brown exterior color, with a two-tone black roof available as a $595 option and overall pricing for the SUV being slightly higher, according to CarBuzz.
The 2027 Niro features redesigned front and rear fascias, new exterior colors and an updated cabin, as well as a new S trim priced at $30,590, excluding the $1,495 destination charge.
The hybrid also adds newly available driver-assistance technologies, including Highway Driving Assist 2, 360-degree Surround View Monitor and Blind-Spot View Monitor.
Why it matters: The Sportage and Niro updates give Kia dealers more features and price points to work with across two key crossover offerings, helping the brand appeal to buyers prioritizing affordability while still offering upgraded technology, styling and fuel-efficient options.
Between the lines: The 2027 model-year pricing and updates for the Sportage and Niro underscore Kia’s broader focus on maintaining competitive price points while expanding features across its lineup.
A few weeks ago, the brand announced that its EV3 will be priced below $30,000, positioning the new SUV as one of the most affordable electric vehicles in the U.S.
Pricing for the 2027 model-year Seltos—which includes several new standard features and more room—starts at $24,990.
What they’re saying: “Giving customers everything they need and more than they expect with sedans, SUVs and utility vehicles that offer a wide variety of powertrains is the foundation for everything we do,” Kia America’s head of corporate communications, James Bell, told CDG News in July.
Bottom line: Kia is building out a lineup that gives dealers affordable options across gas, hybrid and electric powertrains, positioning the brand to compete for increasingly price-conscious shoppers without relying on a single vehicle segment or propulsion strategy.
