Kia targets 4M global sales by 2030—with EVs leading the charge
In North America alone, Kia expects 70% of its sales to be electrified by 2030. (2 min. read)

Kia CEO Investor Day
Kia is doubling down on its bid for sustainability, aiming for over half of global sales to be electrified by 2030.
By the numbers: Kia is targeting 4.19 million global sales by 2030—with electrified vehicles making up 55.6% of that total (or 2.33 million units), under its refreshed “Plan S” roadmap unveiled at Investor Day.
Of those electrified sales, 54.1% are expected to be fully electric.
Hybrids are projected to make up the remaining 45.9%.
The strategy: Kia says its electrification play requires two things: an optimized supply chain and a diverse product mix. So, going forward:
Korea will act as the “global hub” for EV development and production.
North America will tackle mid-to-large SUV production.
Europe will zero in on the production of compact SUVs and hatchbacks.
And India will focus on locally targeted compact SUVs.
On top of that—the brand is reshuffling its product mix between now and 2030. Think new EVs (EV2 through EV5), its first-ever pickup truck, and a bold push into its purpose-built vehicles (fit-for-purpose EVs with advanced software solutions).
The PV5 is slated to launch in July 2025—followed by the introduction of the PV7 in 2027 and the PV9 in 2029.
The PV5 will be available in passenger, cargo, and chassis cab body types, with varying conversion models.
What they’re saying: “Since launching the Kia Transformation strategy in 2021, Kia has continuously progressed to become a provider of sustainable mobility solutions that innovate space and enable customers to make better use of their time beyond conventional means of transportation. We will continue to develop the brand by implementing mid-to-long-term strategies to strengthen our internal stability and respond effectively to changes in the auto industry,” President and CEO Ho Sung Song said.
Zooming out: Kia expects electrified sales to make up 70% of its North American mix by 2030, with even higher penetration in Korea (73%) and Europe (86%). India follows at 43%.
