June began a scorching summer selling season for several automakers, with Toyota, Stellantis, Mazda, Honda, Kia, and Nissan seeing at or near double-digit jumps in sales.
Industrywide, data compiled by Stephens pointed to a 7.6% jump in sales in June compared with the same month in 2025.
Driving the news: Electrified options helped fuel the strong month, with several automakers noting record months for hybrid models. Also of note, smaller and less expensive models from different OEMs performed well, including Ford’s Maverick and Chevrolet’s Trax.
Double-digit gains for Toyota: Toyota saw a 10.1% rise in sales from June 2025, with 212,793 vehicles across all models.
Toyota brands made up the bulk, with 183,627 sales, up 11.2% from a year ago.
Lexus finished with 29,166 vehicles sold, a 3.9% increase year-over-year.
Notably, Toyota’s June electrified sales were the best ever, with 110,627 units sold.
Stellantis’ sales surge: Stellantis’ June sales finished 10% ahead of 2025. It finished off its second sales quarter with U.S. sales rising 6% year-over-year.
For the first half of the year, Stellantis has sold 634,187 vehicles.
Standing out, Ram pickup sales jumped 14% from the second quarter of 2025.
And from the opening quarter of the year, Jeep Wrangler sales spiked 11%.
Ford sees a slip in sales: Ford was one of the few OEMs to see a dip in sales in June, with a 10% decline and a total of 549,200 vehicles sold. For the second quarter, Ford sales tallied just over 1 million, with several notable milestones.
The Maverick and Bronco models posted record first-half sales.
The Ford large SUV lineup was up 10.1%.
And the automaker delivered 357,801 Ford F-Series trucks.
GM ends quarter with decline: GM sales finished at 714,896 in the second quarter, a 4.2% drop.
But GM saw a sharp rise in Traverse sales, up 26% in the first half of the year, as part of its best quarter in small SUV sales.
Cadillac EV sales had their best second quarter.

Bottom line: The June numbers reflect a market that is steady but not surging past the Cox Automotive projection of 16.1 million sales, according to Erin Keating, Cox Automotive Analyst.
“Demand is holding up, but the strength is concentrated in brands and products that are giving consumers the right mix of affordability, utility, and efficiency,” she said.
“It looks more like a product-mix story, with consumers rewarding practical midsize cars, midsize SUVs, trucks, hybrids, and value-oriented family vehicles while being more cautious around higher-priced or less proven segments.”
