June auto sales strength masks wavering retail demand as incentives climb

Total new-vehicle sales, including retail and fleet, are projected to rise 3.6% year over year in June, putting the market on pace to reach 8.25 million units in the first half of 2026, according to a joint JD Power and GlobalData forecast.
The details: June's increase equates to an 8.0% gain from a year ago before adjusting for selling days, though first-half retail sales for 2026 are still expected to decline.

Sherwood Ford service business grows 40% surpassing initial 30% goal

Sherwood Ford started 2026 with the ambitious goal of growing business by 30%, and six months later, service director Damon Egan said they have overshot that target with a 40% boost.
Driving the news: Egan told Sam D’Arc in a segment on Daily Dealer Live that the growth is the result of a change in strategy across talent acquisition, technology deployment, and scheduling.
More specifically, over the past six months at the dealership in Alberta, Canada, Egan explained that they moved from being reactionary to more proactive with their recruiting and hiring.

EV Auto joins Amazon Auto as the first non-franchise dealer on platform

From the launch six years ago, EV Auto CEO and co-founder Alex Lawrence held the ambitious goal of becoming the world’s largest seller of used EVs.
Taking another step toward that goal, he announced on Daily Dealer Live on Monday that his dealership is the first non-franchise dealer to join Amazon Autos.
Driving the news: Lawrence told Daily Dealer Live host Sam D’Arc that EV Auto went live over the weekend after nine weeks of preparation. Consumers can now browse inventory and complete purchase online.

Used-car prices jump more than $1,300 In first six months of 2026

Midway through the year, used car prices are running between $1,350 and $3,600 ahead of where they started 2026, according to CARFAX.
The details: In its July Used Car Index, CARFAX noted a 1.3% jump in prices in June. That was a bit slower than the 3% spike in May. And the overall price jump was about $350.

Louisiana and Massachusetts tighten dealer fee disclosure rules as regulatory scrutiny grows

Crackdowns on dealer fee disclosures continue to mount, with Louisiana and Massachusetts recently issuing new guidance on auto dealer advertising.
The details: A Louisiana Motor Vehicle Commission (LMVC) bulletin and an advisory from the Massachusetts Office of the Attorney General reinforce the Federal Trade Commission's March 13, 2026, "Notorious 97" warning while providing additional guidance on advertising requirements.
