Stellantis $STLA ( ▲ 3.37% ) is recalling 456,287 Ram and Jeep vehicles (2024–2026 model years) after a defective trailer tow module can cause a loss of trailer lighting and, in some cases, trailer braking. The automaker has also issued a do-not-drive advisory while a remedy is developed for affected vehicles.

The details: The recall covers certain 2025–2026 Ram 1500, 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500 trucks, along with 2024–2026 Jeep Wagoneer S and 2026 Jeep Cherokee models equipped with a suspect trailer tow module

  • If the defect occurs, the trailer turn signals may fail to flash, trailer stop lamps may not activate when braking, and (if equipped) trailer brakes may not function at all.

  • Stellantis estimates 100% of the recalled vehicles contain the defect.

Worth noting: The investigation began in August 2025 after Stellantis opened a compliance review into customer complaints and field reports. By mid-January 2026, the company had logged more than 100 warranty claims, 100+ field reports, and nearly 300 repair orders potentially related to the issue, though no crashes or injuries have been reported.

The remedy: Stellantis will replace the trailer tow module with an updated design. Repairs will be performed at no charge once parts become available.Owner notifications go out March 24, and drivers can check VINs here.
