Jeep is doubling down on EVs as part of its product lineup recharge — debuting the new all-electric Recon on Tuesday while touting early signs of success with its turnaround strategy.

The details: Positioned as the first and only fully electric “Trail Rated” SUV, the Recon — revealed ahead of the 2025 Los Angeles Auto Show — aims to bolster Jeep’s rugged-vehicle offerings with a new model rooted firmly in the brand’s DNA.

  • The Recon puts out 650 horsepower and 620 lb.-ft. of instant torque, delivers up to 250 miles of range, and does 0–60 mph in 3.6 seconds.

  • It’s the only fully electric SUV designed with removable doors, swing-gate glass, and rear quarter glass.

  • Pricing starts at $65,000, with production slated to begin early next year. The first launches will be in the U.S. and Canada, followed by global expansion.

What they’re saying: “Jeep Recon, built on our STLA Large multi-energy platform, is a strong new addition to the Jeep off-road family,” Aamir Ahmed, global head of Off Road and EVs for Jeep, told CDG News via email. “Longer and wider than the Wrangler, the Recon offers enhanced interior comfort and improved vehicle dynamics. This is a true Jeep (that) bridges the off road and adventure sides of the lineup.”

Also worth noting: Stellantis $STLA ( ▲ 0.21% ) also announced Tuesday that it will adopt the North American Charging System (NACS) for select Stellantis BEVs in North America, Japan, and South Korea—giving future customers access to more than 28,000 Tesla Superchargers across all five countries.

Why it matters: Jeep’s product strategy has been a major point of frustration for dealers, with brand CEO Bob Broderdorf acknowledging the challenges when he stepped into the role in February and vowing to sharpen Jeep’s lineup and pricing strategy.

Between the lines: The Recon marks another step in Jeep’s rapid-fire product rollout—the culmination of the “Jeep Four by Four” initiative, which funneled $4 billion into product development this year alone, Ahmed noted.

  • In August, Jeep launched the 2026 Jeep Cherokee, unveiled during a live event featuring rapper and actor LL Cool J, who voices the brand’s new marketing campaign.

  • In late October, Jeep revealed the 2026 Grand Cherokee, which introduces an all-new 2.0-liter Hurricane 4 Turbo engine.

Jeep is also entering the Recon launch with some momentum. The brand posted a 4% year-over-year increase in total sales in the first half of 2025, with ICE sales up 7%, and Q3 total sales rising 11% year over year.

“We recently met with our National Dealer Council to share our CY26 strategy, and the enthusiasm was at an all-time high,” Ahmed added. “Our dealers continue to ask for exciting, authentic Jeep products that with iconic designs and technology-laden interiors deliver exceptional value, and Jeep Recon delivers.”

Bottom line: Jeep is using the Recon to prove its EV push can coexist with the brand’s core identity — and to reassure dealers that fresh, high-volume, high-visibility products are finally arriving. The real test will be pricing discipline, production cadence, and whether the Recon can convert pent-up retailer demand into sustainable sales momentum.
