But some say fewer tax credits could be the fix…

1. Hyundai tells dealers current vehicle prices 'not guaranteed'

Hyundai just warned U.S. dealers of potential price hikes after April 2.

Why?

Only 26% of its vehicles are produced domestically and President Trump’s new auto tariffs are around the corner.

Bottom line: Even with an aggressive years-long bet on U.S. manufacturing—the impact of tariffs can’t be avoided overnight.

2. Detroit automakers warn of ‘significant’ disruption from auto tariffs

GM and Ford are also facing a tough reality with the auto tariffs set for this week.

Both automakers support President Trump’s push for U.S. manufacturing—but internal memos show growing concern over the costs and disruptions ahead.

GM is staying nimble, while Ford is studying the potential impacts on its brand—despite 80% of its vehicles being manufactured domestically.

What we know: Even with U.S.-focused strategies, the impact of these tariffs is unavoidable—and no automaker is immune…

3. Lucid Motors capitalizes on shifting EV loyalties

Lucid Motors is seeing a major surge in orders—with 50% of recent sales coming from former Tesla owners.

On top of that—over 75% of orders for Lucid’s new Gravity SUV (starting price of $94,900 on the Grand Touring model) are from first-time buyers.

The takeaway? As Tesla finds itself at the center of controversy, Lucid—and other EV brands—are well positioned to snatch up market share with established EV buyers in search for an appealing alternative.
