Ford issued a series of recalls last week tied to prior recall repairs, potentially deepening consumer concerns about the quality and dependability of its vehicles.

The details: The latest actions affect more than 125,000 vehicles across four separate National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) campaigns involving previously recalled vehicles that may not have been repaired correctly.

  • One campaign covers 10,742 model-year 2018 F-150 trucks previously repaired under recall 17V669 for an issue that could cause the instrument cluster to lose gear indication and unintentionally shift into Reverse or Neutral.

  • A second campaign affects 18,124 model-year 2017 Escape SUVs due to power windows that may exert excessive force before automatically reversing when an object is detected, following an incorrect repair under recall 16V617.

  • Another campaign covers 5,252 model-year 2015–2018 Focus and 2013–2016 Fusion vehicles involving a faulty clutch that could damage the transmission and potentially cause an engine fire, following incorrect repairs under recalls 18V169 and 18V845.

  • The fourth campaign affects 91,198 model-year 2018–2020 F-150 trucks for a daytime running lamp issue that could prevent the lights from dimming properly when switching to parking lamps, following an incorrect repair under recall 20V097.

Bottom line: NHTSA campaigns that require follow-up action are likely to increase service-lane demands and customer concerns, making clear communication, accurate repair execution, and proactive outreach even more critical to maintaining owner confidence.
