Driving the news: Audi is reportedly considering a $4.6 billion factory in the southern U.S. to dodge Trump's tariffs, according to German publication Der Spiegel.
For context: The luxury brand is looking at domestic production as a way to appease the Trump administration's trade policies. The facility would likely build high-volume models currently made abroad, with the popular Q5 SUV (now manufactured in Mexico) being the most obvious candidate.
Why it matters: Audi isn't alone in this shift. GM just announced it's moving Equinox production from Mexico to Kansas and Blazer assembly to Tennessee by 2027. Honda is shifting CR-V production from Canada to Indiana and Ohio, while Nissan is reportedly considering moving Sentra assembly out of Mexico.
