Stellantis topped last week's recall list, calling back 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickups globally, while Mercedes-Benz and Ford have also issued notable safety recalls recently.
First things first: Stellantis' voluntary recall, announced Friday, covers 2019-2026 Ram 1500 models that may have been built with a second-row center or second-row driver-side seat belt buckle anchor that was improperly attached to the vehicle body structure, according to Reuters.
The recall includes 1.27 million vehicles in the U.S., 156,000 in Canada, 15,000 in Mexico and about 75,000 outside North America.
Affected owners will be notified and instructed to contact their dealership, where technicians will inspect the seat belt buckle anchors and make repairs as needed.
Why it matters: The size of the Ram recall could drive a significant increase in service traffic, allowing dealers to strengthen customer relationships while ensuring affected vehicles are repaired promptly.
Also worth noting: Mercedes-Benz recalled more than 310,667 U.S. vehicles over a potential failure to detect an open door, while Ford recalled 86,543 Mustang Mach-E EVs because of a potential flying window trim issue.
The Mercedes recall, issued July 24, stems from a corroded micro-switch in the driver's door lock and affects certain CLA, A-Class, C-Class, CLE, GLA/GLB and GLC models.
Ford's Mach-E recall, issued July 28, covers vehicles built between Feb. 17, 2023, and Oct. 8, 2024, due to an issue involving a new assembly jig at a supplier's factory in Mexico.
Mercedes owners are expected to be notified by Sept. 18, while affected Mach-E owners will be notified by Sept. 10, with dealers performing repairs as needed.
