Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang

Driving the news: Nvidia $NVDA ( ▼ 2.33% ) CEO Jensen Huang predicted the next few years will be "the decade of AV, robotics, autonomous machines" during a CNBC interview at the Viva Tech conference in Paris.

For context: Speaking with Arjun Kharpal on Thursday, Huang highlighted how autonomous vehicles are becoming more common in the U.S. and China.

  • Google's Waymo is running robotaxi services in San Francisco, Phoenix, and Los Angeles, while Chinese companies like Baidu and Pony.ai operate their own fleets.

  • Nvidia supplies both hardware and software for these self-driving systems.

Why it matters: The technology is clearly gaining momentum, but adoption varies dramatically by region. Europe lags behind due to unclear regulations, though things are starting to change.

What we're watching: For Nvidia, which makes money on both the chips and software powering these systems, widespread AV adoption would represent an astronomical growth opportunity.
