Driving the news: Nissan is recalling 41,797 model year 2025 Sentras built between July and October 2025 after discovering air bubbles trapped in windshield laminate layers that can impair driver visibility, which can result in a violation of federal glazing material standards.

The details: The recall covers Sentras equipped with windshields from VITRO's Mexico facility, though Nissan estimates only about 2.2% actually have the defect.

  • The problem was caught during a routine yard audit at Nissan's Aguas II plant on August 25, 2025, when a technician spotted air bubbles trapped between the two glass sheets and the polyvinyl butyral film.

  • An investigation found that misaligned locator pins in the windshield glass molds can create uneven pressure distribution at the upper section of the windshield, preventing proper air evacuation during assembly.

  • Nissan has logged no warranty claims, accidents, or injuries related to the issue.

The remedy: Dealers will inspect windshields for air bubbles and replace affected units. The work takes about 2.5 hours and (as usual) is covered under warranty at no cost to owners. Owner notification letters go out January 15, 2026, and drivers can check VINs starting November 21, 2025 here.
