Driving the news: The National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) has elected its Chairman and Vice Chair for 2026.
As expected, Rob Cochran, Chairman and CEO of #1 Cochran, will serve as NADA's Chairman, succeeding Tom Castriota of Castriota Chevrolet.
And Sandy Fitzgerald Angello, Vice President and Dealer Operator of Pohanka Automotive Group is named Vice Chair, according to a press release.
For context: Cochran leads the largest automotive retailer in Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio, operating 35 dealerships representing 20 brands, 12 collision centers, and a wholesale parts distribution center.
Meanwhile, Angello has over 40 years of industry experience, and has represented Maryland dealers on the NADA Board since 2021.
What they're saying: "At a time when the automotive industry is undergoing rapid transformation—from global trade uncertainty to challenges to the franchise system—it's essential that America's franchised dealers continue to work with all stakeholders on behalf of the dealer body," stated Cochran.
Big picture: With tariffs disrupting supply chains, some manufacturers pushing direct-to-consumer models, and whipsawing EV policies, Cochran and Angello enter their new leadership roles during one of the most rapidly changing periods in modern auto retailing.
