Driving the news: Sean Veilani and Sam Saghbini of Lani Automotive Group acquired a multi-brand store in Iowa from Coleman Automotive Group. The deal closed Oct. 1

For context: Mt. Pleasant Chevrolet, GMC, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram in that Iowa city, about two hours southeast of Des Moines.

  • The store was not yet renamed on the website, but its Facebook page has been updated to Lani Chevrolet, GMC, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram.

  • It’s the first franchised dealership for Lani Automotive.

  • Paul Kechnie and Matt Willis of Performance Brokerage Services advised the sellers.

Strategic note: Kyle Coleman founded the group in 2024, aiming to grow to 40 dealerships over the next 10 years.

  • The group acquired McGrath Nissan in Elgin, Illinois, about 45 miles northwest of Chicago, on May 1, at the time bringing its portfolio to seven stores across Indiana, Iowa, and Ohio.

  • Coleman talked about his evolving strategy on a May 4 episode of Daily Dealer Live.

“Originally, when I founded the group, we were buying small rural stores,” Coleman said during his appearance. “Over the past 12 months, one of the biggest strategy changes has been moving into metros.”
