Driving the news: Kyle Coleman of Coleman Automotive Group purchased an Illinois dealership from Scott McGrath in a deal that closed May 1.
For context: Coleman acquired McGrath Nissan in Elgin, Illinois, about 45 miles northwest of Chicago.
The dealership was renamed Nissan of Elgin.
Performance Brokerage Services represented the buyers in the transaction.
Worth noting: Coleman Automotive was founded in May 2024.
With the Elgin transaction, the retailer now owns three Nissan stores.
The group’s seven dealerships are spread across four states, including Iowa, Indiana, and Ohio.
What they’re saying: Coleman talked about the acquisition on a May 4 episode of Daily Dealer Live.
He talked about the group’s goal to 40 stores and his belief in the brand.
"I'm extremely excited with Nissan…,” Coleman told host Sam D’Arc. “I feel like they're the true comeback story.”
Bottom line: He also said the group’s strategy has changed over time.
“Originally, when I founded the group, we were buying small rural stores,” Coleman said during his appearance. “Over the past 12 months, one of the biggest strategy changes has been moving into metros.”
