Driving the news: Ken Ganley Automotive Group acquired a dealership from John Mastrantoni and Derik Thomas in a deal that closed April 27.
For context: The private retailer purchased Mazda of Kent, in that city, which is about 15 miles northeast of Akron, Ohio. They renamed the store Ken Ganley Mazda.
It’s the first Mazda dealership for Ken Ganley Automotive Group, of Broadview Heights, Ohio.
The group now owns more than 60 dealerships in four states, including Florida, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.
What they’re saying: CEO Ken Ganley told CDG News that he owns the Toyota dealership next to the new acquisition, so he had an interest in the Mazda store.
“I reached out periodically [to the sellers] the past couple years,” Ganley said. “I told them, ‘I'm your next-door neighbor, if you ever decide to sell the store, would you give me a call?’”
