Hyundai is recalling 568,576 Palisades from model years 2020-2025 after curtain airbags failed to prevent third-row passengers from being ejected through windows during federal rollover safety tests. Hyundai has also issued a stop-sale on 633 affected vehicles currently sitting in dealer inventory.
The details: The recall covers Palisades built between April 2019 and June 2025 equipped with airbags from supplier Autoliv.
During simulated rollover tests, dummies in the third row were ejected too far through the window openings, exceeding federal safety limits.
44,000 additional Palisades are being recalled in Canada
Hyundai estimates 100% of affected vehicles have the defect.
Worth noting: NHTSA first flagged the issue in April 2025 during routine compliance testing on a 2025 Palisade. The agency retested in November and got the same results. And on January 14, Hyundai's North America Safety Decision Authority determined a defect exists and approved the recall.
The remedy: Hyundai is still developing a fix. Once available, dealers will repair affected vehicles at no charge. Dealer and owner notifications go out March 23, and drivers can check VINs here.
