Driving the news: Ford $F ( ▼ 1.06% ) is partnering with Amazon $AMZN ( ▼ 0.39% ) to sell certified pre-owned vehicles, becoming the second major automaker to offer cars on Amazon Autos after Hyundai began selling new vehicles through the site late last year.
For context: The program allows customers to browse, finance, and purchase Ford "Blue Advantage" certified pre-owned vehicles online, then take delivery through participating Ford dealers, the companies announced.
Over 160 of Ford's roughly 2,900 U.S. dealers have expressed interest in the program, with about a dozen fully onboarded and another 10 launching next week, per CNBC.
Vehicles are sold at set prices with no haggling and include multi-point inspections, limited warranties of up to one year or 12,000 miles, and a 14-day or 1,000-mile money-back guarantee.
The program is currently available in Los Angeles, Seattle, and Dallas, with plans to expand to additional cities in the coming months.
Looking ahead: Ford says it's using the program to drive traffic to dealer lots and will evaluate whether to eventually add new vehicles to Amazon's platform based on how certified pre-owned sales perform.
