Ford sets new EV sales record in November
The EV arms race among automakers is heating up and Ford’s competition is stiff. (2 min. read)
On Wednesday, Ford reported a 14% sales increase year-over-year and an all-time monthly electric vehicle sales record last month.
By the numbers:
The automaker sold 166,373 vehicles last month, including 10,821 all-electric vehicles, making up 6.5% of sales — a 21% rise from last year.
With the addition of hybrids and plug-in hybrids — Ford's electrified vehicles were up 40% from last November. Internal combustion engine vehicles rose 13%.
Pickup trucks still anchor Ford’s lineup. Sales for the F-Series reached 67,459 units (+27%), and a big rebound in Ranger deliveries drove overall pickup sales higher by 23%.
Zooming in: The EV arms race among automakers is heating up and Ford’s competition is stiff. Kia and Hyundai both set new November sales records as new EVs, like the 2025 Ioniq 5 and three-row EV9 set a strong pace. The Honda Prologue is another model to keep an eye on. Since delivering the first models in March — Honda has sold over 25,000 Prologue electric SUVs in the U.S.
On top of that — facing rivals like the Tesla Cybertruck, Chevy Silverado EV, and GMC Sierra Denali EV — Ford F-150 Lightning sales fell 17% year-over-year.
To keep up, Ford is offering massive incentives on its EV models to close out the year with several discount programs like 0% interest for 72 months and $5,000 in bonus cash.
Lease deals are even sweeter — with up to $10,500 off the 2024 Mustang Mach-E and $6,500 off the F-150 Lightning.
And through its “Ford Power Promise,” the company is also giving EV buyers a free Level 2 home charger and covering the cost of installation.
Bottom line: At the end of the day, Ford is leaning into what it knows best — pickups — and throwing serious incentives behind its EV push. But finding the right balance between discounts and profitability will be critical as the EV market gets more crowded.
