3. BYD faces fallout over “slavery-like” labor claims in Brazil

BYD, the Chinese EV giant, is under fire after Brazilian authorities accused a contractor, Jinjiang Group, of subjecting 163 workers to “slavery-like” conditions at a factory construction site in Bahia state.

Jinjiang denies the claims, blaming translation errors and insisting the accusations insult the dignity of its employees.
