Among vehicles under 3 years old on the used market, the 2025 Toyota RAV4 was the fastest-moving in July and August, taking just 33.59 days to sell, according to analysis compiled by AutoVision.

Driving the news: Used vehicle sales remain strong, topping 1.44 million in July, according to Cox Automotive data.

  • Used inventory remains behind 2022 levels at 2.15 million, while the average price of used vehicles was $27,028 in July, a 6% increase from a year ago.

  • Tracking VINs through AI, AutoVision grouped together data on the fastest-moving vehicles across different age groups. 

Fast movers: Toyota landed the two fastest-selling vehicles among vehicles under 3 years old, with the 2025 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid taking 37.98 days to sell.

  • Honda’s 2025 Pilot and 2024 HR-V are both selling in 38 days.

  • From the 4- to 6-year-old models, the 2023 Tesla Model 3 was the fastest overall seller, moving in 31.73 days, and seeing a $2,778 increase in price from the previous month.

  • For vehicles between 7 and 11, the 2019 Toyota RAV4 sold in 55 days and the 2018 model in 58.

Best sellers: The most sold vehicle in the last month was the 2023 Nissan Rogue, at 6,154 units. 

  • That Rogue model also led all vehicles entering the market with 3,058 units, with off-lease models hitting the lot.

  • The 2023 Ford F-150 was the only other model with more than 2,000 vehicles hitting the market, at 2,966 units, and it had 6,087 in sales.

Breakdown by brand: Ford led all brands in used sales last month with 164,300, with more than 40,000 sales of F-150s.

  • Chevrolet was second with 149,861 units, and Toyota third at 125,131.

  • BMW led premium brand sales with 53,517. 

  • Tesla, meanwhile, led all brands in average days to sell at 52.66.

Bottom line: The used market remains strong as customers look for more affordable options, especially as new vehicle prices are near $50,000. Because of this, dealers should routinely watch their inventory mix to make sure it’s matching consumer demand.

“As for what is selling quickly, some electric and hybrid vehicles are still moving swiftly, with less expensive internal combustion engine light vehicles filling in the gaps and dominating older model groups,” AutoVision noted in the report.
