Driving the news: West Herr Automotive Group purchased Sharon Chevrolet in Liverpool, New York, from Mike Carrow.
For context: The renamed West Herr Chevrolet of Clay reopened under its new ownership on February 13.
West Herr said it expects to sell about 2,000 new and used vehicles per year there.
The store ranks No. 2 in volume for Chevrolet in the Syracuse market, according to West Herr.
Their other Syracuse location, West Herr Chevrolet of East Syracuse, ranks No. 1.
What they’re saying: West Herr CEO Scott Bieler said in a statement that the Syracuse population is growing, in part due to the “construction of Micron’s Semiconductor complex in Clay and the ancillary businesses to come.”
“This acquisition provides us with the opportunity to continue to grow both the West Herr and Chevrolet brands in the Syracuse market,” Bieler said.
What’s next: “I will continue to be a part of West Herr Chevrolet of Clay…so stop by and see me!,” Carrow wrote in a February 14 LinkedIn post.
Siblings Jane Fox and Bill Fox had owned that store and others since the late 1970s. They sold the Chevrolet dealership to then-employee Carrow in 2021.
Bottom line: Already one of the largest privately held dealership groups in the country, West Herr just strengthened its foothold in a third New York market.
