Driving the news: Victory Automotive Group purchased Bob Lindsay Honda in Peoria, Illinois, from the Lindsay family, in a deal that closed December 2.

For context: Canton, Michigan-based Victory Automotive renamed the dealership Victory Honda Peoria. The city is about 160 miles southwest of Chicago.

  • Victory Automotive, one of the largest private groups in the country, owns 61 stores in multiple states, including California, Texas and West Virginia.

  • December’s purchase marked Victory’s eighth acquisition in 2025.

  • Ozog Consulting Group represented the sellers in the transaction.

  • The Lindsay family opened the store on November 1, 1999, according to a November 2025 Facebook post.

What they’re saying: Our future purchases are about being strategic with the right brands but also the right sellers,” Rodger Olson, Victory’s COO, wrote to CDG News in an email.

  • ...We’re leveraging past deals for referrals on future deals and Peoria, Milford and Groton were all developed organically through our growing network of sellers…,” Olson wrote.  “As you can tell by our coast-to-coast footprint, we’re less worried about where we buy.”

Bottom line: It may seem obvious, but we’re hearing more about the importance of actively managing portfolios. That can mean selling an underperforming store to refocus on running existing ones better. It also means doing what works best for the group, like in the case of Victory, where location is less of a concern to them.
