Stellantis shuffles leadership as Tim Kuniskis returns to take over Ram

The automaker has decided that Ram needs a dedicated leader at the helm. (1 min. read)

After the unexpected exit of Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares, ex-Dodge/Ram boss Tim Kuniskis has been tapped to lead the automaker’s Ram brand.

First things first: Kuniskis – who retired from Stellantis in May – returns to the company, once again taking the reins of Ram, as CEO of the brand. His return to the automaker was announced with a few other key leadership changes at the company.

  • Chris Feuell, who has been leading Ram and Chrysler for the past few months, will now be charged with leading Chrysler and Alfa Romeo.

  • Larry Dominique, who had been leading Alfa Romeo for North America, will be departing Stellantis.

Digging deeper: The return of Kuniskis – who is heavily credited with the revitalization of the Dodge brand with popular higher-performance variants like the Charger and Challenger Hellcat and Demon models – has established quite a rep in the industry for how he connects with car buyers, Stellantis’ dealer body, and Ram owners.

What they’re saying: “Today’s changes will enable us to operate in a structure that will drive the best outcomes for the region, unlock significant potential and win in the market. A main lever is for the Ram brand to have its CEO singularly focused on that brand,” the company said in a statement.

Weighing it all: Ram – which has struggled in recent years, from sales to recalls – has shown some slight improvement in sales in recent months. The return of Kuniskis could go a long way towards building on those improvements in a sustainable way and addressing other operational challenges that can help Ram regain its footing in the market.
