Performance Auto Group acquires Fullerton Auto Group in multi-franchise deal

CDG News Alert (< 1 min. read)

Fullerton Ford renamed to Performance Ford of Somerville

Driving the news: Fullerton Auto Group, a Route 22 landmark in Somerville, New Jersey for over 50 years, has been sold to Performance Auto Group.

For context: The deal includes eight franchises spanning Ford, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, and Maserati. Performance Auto Group now operates 12 locations across northern New Jersey.

Why it matters: Albert DiFiore bought Fullerton Ford in 1981 when sales were struggling due to high interest rates and gas costs, then transformed it into one of Central Jersey's most prominent dealership groups with well over 100 employees. Within two years, he had built it into the third-highest selling Ford dealer in the New York district.

What we're watching: The acquisition gives Performance Auto Group a prime location on one of New Jersey's busiest commercial corridors—continuing the trend of regional dealer groups consolidating successful operations in high-traffic markets.
