Driving the news: Chip O’Steen of O’Steen Automotive Group purchased Acura and Volvo of Athens from John Smith of Smith Automotive Group in a deal that closed February 23.
For context: The two dealerships are connected by a service drive in Athens, the college town that’s home to the University of Georgia, about 70 miles northeast of Atlanta.
O’Steen renamed the dealerships O’Steen Acura Athens and O’Steen Volvo Cars Athens.
The acquisition gives the group its first Acura store, Andy Church, of Dealer Solutions Mergers & Acquisitions, told CDG News.
DSMA represented the buyer in the transaction.
What they’re saying: “They’re out of Jacksonville, so [O’Steen] likes Georgia a lot,” Church said. “He also likes that town, and those brands.”
