Driving the news: Chip O’Steen of O’Steen Automotive Group purchased Acura and Volvo of Athens from John Smith of Smith Automotive Group in a deal that closed February 23.

  • For context: The two dealerships are connected by a service drive in Athens, the college town that’s home to the University of Georgia, about 70 miles northeast of Atlanta.

  • O’Steen renamed the dealerships O’Steen Acura Athens and O’Steen Volvo Cars Athens.

  • The acquisition gives the group its first Acura store, Andy Church, of Dealer Solutions Mergers & Acquisitions, told CDG News.

  • DSMA represented the buyer in the transaction.

What they’re saying: “They’re out of Jacksonville, so [O’Steen] likes Georgia a lot,” Church said. “He also likes that town, and those brands.”
