Driving the news: Eric Johnson, owner of his namesake Johnson Automotive Group, bought a dealership from Don Brookfield in a deal that closed May 6.

For context: Johnson Automotive purchased Brookfield Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, in Benton Harbor, Michigan.

  • Benton Harbor sits along the shores of Lake Michigan on the state’s west side, about 200 miles southwest of Detroit.

  • The store name will remain.

  • Jennifer Rafael and Mike Funk, of Dealer Solutions Mergers & Acquisitions, represented Johnson in the deal.

What they’re saying: The acquisition doubles Johnson’s dealership count to two.

“I’m excited about the future with Brookfield CDJR and look forward to continuing to grow…,” Johnson said in a release.
