Mercedes-Benz of South Austin
Driving the news: Group 1 Automotive $GPI ( ▼ 0.18% ) has added three luxury dealerships to its portfolio, including Lexus and Acura in Fort Myers, Florida and Mercedes-Benz in South Austin, Texas.
For context: These acquisitions expand Group 1's presence in two key "cluster" markets—growing their Southwest Florida footprint to three dealerships and their Austin presence to eight locations. The company expects these new stores to generate around $330 million in annual revenues.
This is classic Group 1… The organization buys where it already has leverage, adding high-margin luxury brands, and letting scale do the work. It's a reminder that despite all the economic noise, the big groups aren't pumping the brakes on expansion.
"We are confident that these highly desirable luxury brands will be exceptional additions to our portfolio,” said Group 1 President and CEO, Daryl Kenningham.
