Driving the news: Ed Morse Automotive Group will purchase its first European luxury dealership from the Woodhouse Auto Family in a deal expected to close April 1.
For context: Porsche Des Moines, in West Des Moines, Iowa, opened in late 2025 as the first dealership to sell the brand in metro Des Moines since 2008. And, it’s the only Porsche dealership in the state.
The name will remain, CEO Teddy Morse told CDG News.
Delray Beach, Florida-based Ed Morse Automotive owns more than 50 auto dealerships across multiple states, including Colorado, Arizona, and Texas.
The Porsche deal makes five Iowa stores for Ed Morse, which mostly owns domestic franchises, including its other luxury offering of Cadillac.
What they’re saying: Morse said he’s stoked about acquiring the dealership and its beautiful, new image-compliant studio. Porsches co-star in some of his favorite classic movies, he said, including the 1979 Porsche 928 driven by Tom Cruise in Risky Business.
“Jake Ryan, the love interest for Molly Ringwald’s character in Sixteen Candles, drove a Porsche 944,” Morse said. “I actually own a 1984 Porsche 944, too. Porsche is an absolutely iconic brand, not just in the United States, but globally. And for the Ed Morse Automotive Group to be able to have that as a part of our dealerships is huge.”
Bottom line: The group, which also owns Harley-Davidson and powersports stores, didn’t have any specific plans to expand but went all in on the Porsche opportunity.
“We sell American cars, like Chevys, Fords, Dodges, Chryslers, and all those,” Morse said. “We do great. They're great brands, and I love them. But Porsche is kind of a mythical thing.”
